It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we have to report to you the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter George Joseph Rehak of IAFF Local 2450 – Hampton, Virginia. Brother Rehak died Sunday, June 30, 2002 of traumatic injury sustained from MVA while reporting for duty (detailed). The viewing for Brother Rehak was held on Wednesday, July 3, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and again at from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armstead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia 23666 (757) 723-3191. The funeral was held on Friday, July 5, 2002 at 11:00 a.m., at Liberty Baptist Church located at 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Virginia 23666 (757) 826-2110.
Biographical Comments
George was a very loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His relationships with family and God were most importatnt to him. Words cannot express how much he is missed. George held a private pilots license and was an accomplished hunter and outdoorsman.
