After 34 years of outstanding service, Alan retired a Captain from the Calgary Fire Department. As a fire fighter and Captain, Alan was diligent in duty and a stickler for detail. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. In retirement, Alan indulged in his flirtation with lady luck enjoying casino culture and the characters he met there. But his real love was for his family. Married for 57 years, he was a loving husband, father and a devoted grandfather. He had a quick wit and a good heart. He loved children, a good story, lusty limericks, and his garden. He was a vigorous man and a colorful character and is deeply missed by all those who knew him.
