Biographical Comments
Reuben (Rube) was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. Rube was a man full of compassion, integrity and honesty. He was hard-working, tough but fair and dependable. These were some of the character traits that made him special. The Calgary Fire Department was a major part of his life and he was so proud to be part of that “family”. Rube rose through the ranks from Fire Fighter to Lieutenant, to Captain, to District Chief but the firefighters of "D" shift always had a special place in his heart.
(Submitted by the Poffenroth Family for the 2010 Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial)
