Victor Leslie Husband: “Les” as he was called by all his friends, joined the Powell River Fire Department in October 1960 as a Fire Fighter. He served on the Executive Board of IAFF Local 1298 and was always ready to help out with our local Muscular Dystrophy Boot Drive. On his promotion to Captain, Les enjoyed the added responsibilities of fire prevention duties in the community. Brother Husband was well respected among his peers and his cool, calm demeanour at incidents was admired and appreciated by those around him. On the morning of June 7, 1990 as Les was preparing to leave for dayshift, he suffered a cardiac arrest. His own crew responded but were unable to revive him.
(Submitted by the Husband Family for the 2011 Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial)
