Biographical Comments
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Les McMillan on September 12, 2024, at the age of 82. Although unexpected, he was surrounded by his loved ones. Family meant everything to him.

Les was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Jackie; his children Barb (Ben), Jim, Bonnie (Jason). His grandchildren, Bradley (Jen), Christopher (Megan), Amy, Alexandra (Daniel), Jennie (Cam) and Grace. As well as his great grandchildren, Clara and Frances. His brothers Pat (Joanne), Neil (Jan), his sister-in-law Renate and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Lester and Beatrice McMillan and his brother Phillip McMillan.

Les was a proud member of the Calgary Fire Department, retiring as Fire Marshall in January 1998. He also served on the Calgary Stampede Parade Safety Committee for many years as well as the Alberta Safety Codes Council.

Les and Jackie enjoyed vacationing and making new memories. Whether it was camping with friends and family, touring across Canada, dinner parties, trips to Hawaii, watching his girls play the slot machines in Vegas- he enjoyed it all.

Although retired, Les never stopped moving. Whether it was “Pa’s Taxi Service” driving the family around the city, golfing with friends, or volunteering, he lived a life of service to everyone he loved. He enjoyed spending time with his immediate and extended family. His grandchildren will always remember his funny “Lester-isms.”

He was an honorable man. To know Les was to love him, and he will be deeply missed by everyone he has left behind.

Memorial Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 – 100 Street S.E., Calgary) on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow.
