It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Platoon Captain Brian Taillefer of IAFF Local 913 - Kamloops, British Columbia. Brother Taillefer, 73, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from leukemia.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Monday August 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Parish, 2826 Bank Road, Kamloops, British Columbia V2B 6Y5, (250) 579-8711.

In lieu of flowers donations to the British Columbia Professional Firefighters Burn Fund is requested. Other expressions of sympathy or condolences for the family or the local can be sent to IAFF Local 913, P.O. Box 218, Kamloops, BC V2C 5K6.
Biographical Comments
Brian became a member of the Kamloops Fire Rescue in 1969 and rose to the rank of Battalion Chief. He dedicated 32 years of proud service to the citizens of Kamloops. Brian was a true sportsman, initiating a professional international fire fighter tournament which started in Kamloops and is now in its 39th year. IAFF Hockey Tournaments are held throughout Western Canada and the United States. Brian also started an adult recreational Kamloops hockey team which is in its 47th year.

As Battalion Chief, Brian was very composed and garnered natural respect and much love. He was selected and honored to carry a flag into Madison Square Garden for the 9/11 Memorial Service. Brian was a great husband, kind and loyal friend, he had many adventures and enjoyed life to the fullest.
