BRIAN HELME: Local 1286 Richmond, BC; Retired Deputy Chief; Born Oct. 13, 1944. Passed away April 28, 2019
Brian passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 74. He is survived by his loving wife Arlene; his sons of whom he was so proud, Troy (Sheri), Gary (Christine); his grandchildren who were the love of his life, Cloe, Ryan and Mia; his loving sister Lois, as well as other relatives, and many good friends.

Brian was happily married to Arlene for 51 years and they resided and raised their sons in Richmond. After retirement, they moved to enjoy a slower pace in Ladner. Brian loved to fish, camp, golf, work in garden and socialize with friends and family. Brian and Arlene also loved to travel and did visit many parts of the world.

Brian joined the Richmond Fire Department in 1969 and was a proud member for 31 years. He knew firefighting was a dangerous profession and knew the risks involved, but that was the path he wanted. He was also a member of the Critical Incidence Stress Team, and an instructor for CPR and First Aid.
He rose through the ranks as Lieutenant, Captain and retired as Deputy Chief. Brian loved his job and was always proud to be a member of Local 1286.

Brian lived his life with kindness, respect, integrity and was a true family man. He will be truly missed.
