Wayne, a retired Captain of the Port Coquitlam Fire Department was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on February 25th 1948. The Rieu family moved to Port Coquitlam in 1956 where his parents Wally and Zella brought up a family of seven children. Wayne grew up with his brothers Gary, Terry, Greg, Brent, Dale and sister Debbie. Wayne met and married his wife Marie of 45 years and started their own family. Wayne and Marie had son Rod and daughter Kelly followed by four grandchildren, Nathan, Emily, Kaylin and Jessica. Wayne was very active in Port Coquitlam's sporting community where he played, coached and umpired in Senior Men's Fastball and children's softball leagues. Wayne enjoyed golfing as an active member at Meadow Garden's Golf Club for 30 years which included two hole in one's. Wayne joined the Port Coquitlam Fire Department in 1974 where he proudly served for 30 years retiring at the rank of Captain. As a dedicated family man, Wayne cherished his large family gatherings that meant so much to him. Wayne will be deeply missed by his family, friends, the Fire Department and the community of Port Coquitlam.
