It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Gordon Ratcliffe of IAFF Local 1253 - Cranbrook, British Columbia. Brother Ratcliffe, 64, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013 from kidney cancer.

At the request of Brother Ratcliffe, no services will be held.

Biographical Comments
Gord, more commonly known as “Rats,” was a dedicated Fire Fighter, an avid sportsman and a great friend. His family was the most important part of his life, making him an incredibly loving husband, father and a special grandpa. Gord spent most of his life as a fire fighter; he truly enjoyed the job for what it was and all the challenges that went with it. He also had a great love for the outdoors and the beauty within it. Known for his quick wit and sarcasm, he left those close to him with a smile on their face and great memories in their hearts. Gord was both honoured and proud to be a part of the Cranbrook Fire Department and IAFF Local 1253.
