Biographical Comments
Sid joined the White Rock Fire Department on June 24, 1975 as one of the first full-time hires for the department. During his years of service, he was an integral part of its operations, displaying strong leadership through his expertise in industrial first aid and extensive job knowledge. Captain Bristowe was very proud of his role with the department and would be equally proud to know that his death served to assist others in not suffering the same fate.
Sid took full advantage of his spare time traveling to many parts of the world. He also enjoyed playing soccer on the Department team and took up hockey and golf while in his 20s.
Volunteering was ingrained in the fabric of Sid’s being and he could always be counted on to participate in any worthwhile endeavor for the Vancouver General Hospital Burn Unit, White Rock Community Sea Festival, Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary or Royal Canadian Legion.
Sid was a loving, caring, helpful person who was a good and loyal friend to many.
(Submitted by the Bristowe Family for the 2011 Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial)
