Biographical Comments
Robert (Bob) was born and raised in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, BC, where he grew up with his sisters and good friends. He remained in the Cove and it was here that his wife, Ietje, and he raised their three children, Connie, Adam, and David. He was an active member of Vancouver Fire Department and Local 18 for 33 years, where he worked in a variety of roles, with the objective of always trying to improve the job. Upon retirement, Bob remained an active member with Vancouver Retired Firefighters Association and a mentor to many up and coming firefighters. When not working, Bob could be found at the ice rink and sports fields supporting the variety of sports teams that his children played on, in addition to travelling around BC, camping, and spending countless hours at the family cabin in Tulameen, where he would often be seen floating on the lake. In his retirement, Bob enjoyed spending his free time tinkering, hunting, fishing, volunteering and spending time with his family and friends.
Bob will be greatly missed.
(Submitted by the Chapman Family for the 2018 Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial)
