It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Gregory Ewert, IAFF 10th District Local 1280, Modesto, CA. Brother Ewert, 61, passed away on September 23, 2018 from leukemia.

Biographical Comments
Brother Ewert began his career as a Firefighter with Modesto Fire Department on March 1, 1979. He retired as Captain on July 25, 2010; the majority of his career on Truck Company 5. Brother Ewert passed away September 23, 2018 following an eight-year battle with job-related cancer.

Brother Ewert was instrumental in the creation of the Modesto Fire Department Technical Rescue Team, and was a Rescue Systems Instructor at the Modesto Junior College Fire Academy.

Brother Ewert is survived by his wife Sherree, son Brett Ciccarelli, daughters Haley Ewert and Breana Ewert-Kramer (Steven), and two grandchildren-Grayson and Ellison.
