Terry began his working career as a welder, he then joined the Calgary Fire Department in 1978. After his rookie years, he was stationed at the #1 firehall in downtown Calgary, one of the busiest in the city. He enjoyed working with his brother fire fighters and stayed at this hall for most of his career, making many close friendships. He took courses and joined the water rescue team, he learned to dive and looked forward to his shifts patrolling the river. Later on he joined the HAZMAT team and worked diligently when they were needed on a call. May Stampedes, he would drive the antique rig in the parade and he joined in various benefits run by the Antique Society. Terry liked to keep very busy, on his days off, he would be out building homes for us and his friends. Throughout our marriage, he built and remodeled six homes for our family.
He passed away much too young at age 48, never getting the chance to meet his grandchildren. We all miss him dearly and he will stay forever in our hearts.
(Submitted by the Burton family for the 2016 Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial)
