It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Battalion Chief Richard D. Richardson, IAFF 8th District Local 67, Columbus, Ohio. Brother Richardson, 57, passed away on January 25, 2023, after succumbing to an occupational cancer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Rd. Powell, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, February 3, 2023, also at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

richard d. richardson, 57, passed away peacefully on january 25, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. he was born january 16, 1966 to earl and karen (kendle) richardson in stuebenville, ohio. rich graduated from buckeye north high school and mount vernon nazarene university. he joined the columbus division of fire on july 25,1988 ending his career serving battalion 5 on the city’s west side. he faithfully served the citizens of columbus for 34 years. loving husband of patti for 34 years. devoted father of michael (taylor), matthew, megan and madeline. loving grandfather of three. in addition to his parents, he is also survived by brothers doug (diane), bob (suzy) and many extended family including in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. he was preceded in death by infant daughter, molly magdalene. family and friends will be received from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on thursday, february 2, 2023 at st. joan of arc catholic church, 10700 liberty rd. powell, oh. mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on friday, february 3, 2023 with fr. james p. black officiating. burial will take place at resurrection cemetery in lewis center, oh. in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to st. joan of arc catholic church or columbus firefighters foundation. a heartfelt thank you to st. joan of arc catholic church, the columbus division of fire and our friends and family for their love, support and prayers during the past year. arrangements with the spence-miller funeral home grove city, ohio where online guest book may be signed at www.spencemillerfuneralhome.com
