It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Firefighter David Burritt, IAFF 2nd District Local 1575 – Columbus, Nebraska. Brother Burritt, 60, passed away on March 3, 2025 after succumbing to occupational cancer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Twin River Methodist Parish, 509 4th St., Silver Creek, Nebraska 68663. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the same location.

Biographical Comments
David C. Burritt was a 29 year veteran of the Columbus, Nebraska Fire Department. He had a passion for he fire service and was a state instructor for many years. He firmly believed in the union's mission and was a Local 1575 President in the past. He is survived by his wife Gail and daughter Erika.
