It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Battalion Chief James L. Varin, IAFF 3rd District Local 799, Providence, Rhode Island. Brother Varin, 52, passed away on Feb. 27, 2023, after succumbing to occupational cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 11am in the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, Cathedral Square, Providence, Rhode Island. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
