It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Harjinder "Harj" S. Ghuman of IAFF Local 18 - Vancouver, British Columbia. Brother Ghuman, 46, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 following a long battle with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverside Funeral Home and Crematorium, 7410 Hopcott Road, Delta, British Columbia V4G 1B6, (604) 940-1313. Due to extremely limited parking, please park and meet at the Great Pacific Forum Ice Rink / Planet Ice, 10388 Nordel Court, Delta, British Columbia. GHUMAN, Harjinder "Harj" Singh: November 25, 1970 - December 1, 2016
Born in the village of Ghuman, Punjab, India, and immigrated to East Vancouver in 1975 at the age of 5. He attended Gladstone Secondary School and studied power engineering at BC IT. He is survived by wife Suminder Ghuman; son Asa Ghuman; daughter Meera Ghuman; mother; father; brothers; sisters; and extended family who loved him dearly. Harj was a Vancouver Firefighter, beginning his career September 12, 1994. A deeply compassionate and caring person to all who knew him. Harj was the life of every party and welcomed everyone with an open heart. Never one to let you have a frown for very long, his contagious smile brightened up every room and every moment he was a part of.
