It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Bryan Kongus, IAFF 6th District Local 1286, Richmond, BC. Brother Kongus, 44, passed away on August 17, 2017 after a long struggle with PTSD.

A full honors funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on December 18, 2017 at the Fraserview Mennonite Brethren Church, 11295 Mellis Drive, Richmond, BC.

Biographical Comments
It is with great sadness that we officially announce the Line of Duty Death of one of our Brothers. Donald Bryan Kongus born was born October 27,1972 in Jasper Alberta, later moving to Cobble Hill B.C. where he grew up and graduated high school in 1990. After spending some time volunteering as a firefighter with the Cowichan Bay Fire Hall, Bryan knew he had found his passion.

Bryan went on to graduate from the Justice Insitute of B.C. and in 1994 began his career with Richmond Fire Rescue, as a firefighter at the age of 21 where he spent the remainder of his career and life with his fellow brothers and sisters. Sadly Bryan passed away August 17, 2017 after a long struggle with PTSD.
