It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Battalion Chief Mike Merlino, IAFF 9th District Local 2091 –Douglas County, Oregon. Brother Merlino, 61, passed away on Aug. 9, 2025, after succumbing to occupational cancer.



A funeral service was held earlier this month.
