It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Captain Charles Cate, IAFF 7th District Local 2933, Clallam County, Washington. Brother Cate, 46, passed away on January 12, 2023 after suffering a medical emergency.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Avenue, Sequim, Washington 98382

Biographical Comments
Captain Chad Cate died in his sleep at the fire station after returning from structure fire. He was found by his crew when he did not arise for the 7 am station duties.

Captain Cate was hired in 1997 as a firefighter/paramedic, and he was promoted to captain in 2020. He leaves behind his wife Renee, a 2-year-old son Charles and two adult children, Ashleigh and Harrison. He graduated from Sequim High School and was the wrestling coach there.

LODD services will be held on January 21, 2023 at the Sequim High School. Time yet to be set.
