It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Captain David Meyer, IAFF 8th District Local 2 – Chicago, Illinois. Brother Meyer, 54, was killed while fighting a structural fire on April 23, 2025.

Visitation will take place on Monday, April 28 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60646. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 29 at 10 a.m. at Saint John Brebeuf Parish, 8305 N Harlem Ave, Niles, Illinois 60714.
