It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Firefighter and Union President Ky Duttlinger, IAFF 2nd District Local 301, Burlington, Iowa. Brother Duttlinger, 51, passed away on March 23, 2023 after succumbing to an occupational cancer.

A Remembrance Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., April 1, 2023, at Burlington High School's Carl Johanssen Gymnasium, 1429 West Ave., Burlington, IA 52601; phone: (319)753-6791. Fire Service Funeral Honors will be rendered. Any uniformed personnel should gather at BHS at 10 a.m.. A private burial will be in Bailey Cemetery in Keswick, IA at a later date.

Kylon Andrew Duttlinger, 51, of Burlington, died after a job related cancer, Thursday, March 23, 2023, surrounded by his fire service family.

Ky served as a Fire Fighter for 31 years. He was on the volunteer fire department in Riverdale before joining the Burlington Fire Department.
Ky loved being outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman; fishing, morel mushroom hunting and hunting, especially out of state hunting. Fire service was a huge part of his life. He was a long serving Union President and Member of Local 301 and State Vice President for the Iowa Professional FireFighters Association. Ky was very passionate about helping fire fighters across the state and was always available. He was the driving force for getting benefits for firefighters that have gotten cancer through their work. He has been named Vice President Emeritus by IPFF Board for his years of service.
He is survived by his firefighter brothers and sisters and his many professional friends he was acquainted with through his various roles in the fire department.
