It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Captain Michael B. Wells, IAFF 10th District Local 1301 Kern County, California. Brother Wells, 51, passed away on Jan. 28, 2024 after succumbing to occupational cancer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93308; phone: (661) 393-5683.

Fire Captain Michael Bruce Wells, 51, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. His passing followed a difficult battle with occupational-related cancer. Captain Wells proudly served the community as a member of the Kern County Fire Department for 30 years, starting in the year 1994. Throughout his career his reputation was that of a steady and reliable leader, but all who knew him would describe him as a family man. He is survived by his wife Lisa, their three sons Colton, Caleb, and Christopher, as well as a loving extended family.
