Biographical Comments
Jim joined the Calgary Fire Department in 1953 and retired as Captain after 31 years of service. He was not an individual with idle hands. In this world of television, he was known to watch hockey games, the news and travel shows. He kept busy everyday with hobbies like gardening, carpentry and fishing. And he kept busy in numerous volunteer activities and received several awards for his contributions; the Carstairs Citizenship Award, the 2000 Ministers Seniors Service Award and the Recognition of Contribution Award of Museums Alberta 2000. He was proud to have served on the Fire Department and continued to keep his shifts marked on his calendar. We will miss him!
(Submitted by the Symon Family for the 2006 Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial)
