It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Joseph Kolar, IAFF District 6 Local 953, Kelowna, BC. Brother Kolar, 51, passed away on October 31, 2019 from lung cancer.

Biographical Comments
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Brother Joe Kolar. Joe passed away peacefully last night surrounded by family. Joe committed 29 years of his life in service with the Kelowna Fire Department and made the ultimate sacrifice after a 7 ½ month battle with cancer. All our lives were touched by Joe in one way or the other and we are all better people for knowing him. The Kolar family have appreciated the ongoing support throughout Joe’s fight, please keep them in your thoughts but also respect their privacy and wishes. Service arrangements will be announced next week.
