It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Division Chief Douglas Erwin, IAFF 8th District Local 4302 - Naperville, Illinois. Brother Erwin, 52, passed away on Jan. 25, 2025 after succumbing to occupational cancer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Bradly-Gill Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 16600 Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park, Illinois 60477. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1 2025 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6850 W. 159th St., Tinley Park, Illinois 60477.

Biographical Comments
Division Chief Doug Erwin started his FD career at Bedford Park FD. He was then hired by the Tinley Park FD and advance through the ranks to Assistant Chief. He started with the Naperville Fire Department on October 3, 2005. On August 18, 2018 Promoted to Lieutenant, January 1, 2022 Promoted to Lieutenant of EMS and June 6, 2022 Promoted to Division Chief of EMS. In September 2023 Doug was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. After 6 months of chemotherapy in May 2024 Doug was told he was cancer free. In November 2024, the cancer returned and sadly Doug passed away on January 25, 2025. Doug is survived by his brother, Naperville Firefighter/Paramedic Mike Erwin, his beautiful wife, Char, two children Ryan(11) and Kelten (24).
