Steve Mixon, born on December 14, 1968, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was a beacon of strength, love, and grace throughouthis life. As a dedicated firefighter of 28 years, serving as an assistant fire marshall at the Tulsa Fire Department,Steve was a hero in every sense of the word. His passion for service extended beyond his professional life. He was alicensed ordained Assembly of God minister and a graduate of Victory Bible Institution, seamlessly merging his faithwith his commitment to community. Steve was an alumnus of Nathan Hale High School and a proud former soccerplayer at OSU. He later transferred to TU to complete his degree, showcasing his resilience and commitment. "Theonly way to do great work is to love what you do," Steve embodied this quote by Steve Jobs, in his life and career.
Married to his beloved Angela Norris since 1993, their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership.Steve was a man who wore many hats. He was a devoted husband, a loving father to his son Jordan Mixon, and anadoring grandfather to Bo and Remington. Steve's hobbies were a reflection of his character. His love for studyingthe bible was a testament to his faith, his fondness for the beach indicated his love for nature and tranquility, and hisaffection for his pets Jackson and Tae revealed his caring and compassionate nature. Steve was a man who livedhis life to the fullest, touching countless lives along the way and leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knewhim.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Jessie Mixon. His legacy of love, service, and compassionwill live on in the lives of his wife, Angela; his son, Jordan and his wife, Destiny; his grandchildren, Bo and Remington;and his cousin, Nick Madden and his wife, Bridget, and their children. A celebration of Steve's life will be held onThursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 am CST, at New Beginnings Assembly of God, 501 N Grant, Sand Springs,Oklahoma, 74063. In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that welove deeply becomes a part of us." Steve Mixon is indeed a part of all those who loved him and will continue to liveon in their hearts and memories.
