It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Firefighter/EMT Mark R. Hernandez, IAFF 8th District Local 2438, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Hebron, KY. Brother Hernandez, 54, passed away on Sept. 29, 2023, after succumbing to an occupational cancer.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 St. Rt. 28, Goshen, OH 45122; phone: (513) 722-2430. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:45 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 5849 Buckwheat Rd., Milford, OH 45150.

beloved son of richard samuel hernandez and the late constance lee (nee momyer) hernandez. loving father of elizabeth hernandez, mariah hernandez and ryan hernandez. dear brother of michael (lora) hernandez, dawn bergmann, matthew (kate) hernandez and wendy hernandez. caring uncle of megan and jacob hernandez, lara hill, david hernandez and ruby bergmann. proud great uncle of brynnlyn, aurora and calvin wilbur and lucas hernandez. also survived by numerous relatives and many dear friends and family of brothers of the local 2438 firefighter department, along with the four previous departments.

mark was a graduate of milford high school. he enjoyed football, wrestling, hunting and running his h&h construction company, alongside being a fireman. he worked for 21 years as a fireman at five departments: highland heights, central campbell, taylor mill, point pleasant and the cvg airport fire, which he considered family.
