It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Firefighter/Paramedic Mike Foster, IAFF 9th District Local 731, Reno, Nevada. Brother Foster passed away on May 16, 2023, after succumbing to occupational cancer.

A Memorial Ceremony is scheduled for Sat., June 10, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Sparks Parks and Recreations, 98 Richards Way, Sparks, NV 89434

Biographical Comments
It is with a heavy heart and deepest sympathies that I write to you this morning. I regret to inform you that Retired Firefighter Paramedic Mike Foster passed away this morning, May 16 at 0453 hours at Renown Regional Medical Center following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mike was hired as a firefighter December 3, 2001 by Fire Chief Lee Leighton. He retired on June 9, 2021, having served as a valued member of the Sparks Fire Department for almost 20 years. Mike was always very friendly and loved to socialize and tell a good story. Mike contributed in many ways to the department over the years. He was our map coordinator and was very involved in EMS skills and training.
