It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter/EMT Matthew Diesing, IAFF 14th District Local I-2 – X-10 Industrial Fire Fighters, TN. Brother Diesing, 47, passed away on June 1, 2024 after succumbing to occupational cancer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at the Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel, 2000 Powell Dr., Powell, TN 37849; phone: (865) 362-5382. The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at 8:30 a.m. at the East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920; phone: (865) 577-3228.

Biographical Comments
Mathew battled pancreatic cancer for 14 months before passing away on 1 June 24. He was a loving husband, father , son, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his family so very much. Matt served in the United States Marine Corps for 7 years and was stationed at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa. After serving, he returned home to work as a Firefighter for Oak Ridge National Laboratory Fire Department for 22 years.

Matt is survived by his Wife Christina (Christie) Diesing, Daughter Alexis, Sons John Thomas (J.T.) and Brody, Parents Bill and Dorothy Diesing, Sisiters, Christine Rogers, Carolyn Weinbaum, Cathleen Diesing and Brother Mark Diesing. His fellow IAFF Local I-2 Brothers and Sisters will miss him more than words can say,
