Born and raised in Calgary, Tom made a fine example of “local boy makes good” by rising to the rank of Chief of the Calgary Fire Department with whom he started as a rookie. When he wasn’t working, he could be found in his shop making woodwork treasures that have become wonderful keepsakes for family and friends. Though Tom had his serious side when needed, his warm smile would light up a room. His loyalty and dedication with the Irricana and Airdrie Wild Rose Masonic Lodges, the Balzac United Church and the Sea Cadets, exemplify his unwavering care for others. He was a loving husband and father whose pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him.
(Submitted by the Minhinnett Family for the 2006 Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial)
