It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Assistant Chief Troy Jackson, IAFF District 9 Local 2086, South Metro, CO. Brother Jackson, 51, passed away on December 16, 2019 from occupational cancer.

Biographical Comments
In 2013 Chief Jackson was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma, a rare job-related terminal cancer. Despite the physical and emotional challenges of his illness Chief Jackson triumphed as a phenomenal leader and mentor and will be remembered as such.

Chief Jackson was hired as a Firefighter in 1990 and went on to have an unbelievably successful career in the fire service, promoting to Engineer in 1995; Lieutenant in 1997; Captain in 2005; Training Bureau Chief in 2015; and finally, to the rank of Assistant Chief of Operations in 2016. Chief Jackson stepped down in August of 2019 due to the deterioration of his health. During his career he obtained his undergraduate and master’s degrees as a way to continually improve his contributions to his profession and life.
