Summary
Lieutenant Robert P. Neary, 59, and Fire Fighter Daniel Sweeney, 25, died of injuries sustained from a wall collapse while battling a 5-alarm blaze at a vacant warehouse on York Street, located in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. As the fire fighters investigated an extension of the fire at an adjacent furniture store, the rear wall of that building collapsed on them. Two other fire fighters were injured.

Biographical Comments
Fire Fighter Daniel Sweeney followed in the footsteps of his father, Captain David Sweeney (Ret) and joined the Philadelphia Fire Department in July, 2006. He worked at Ladder 10 since 2007. During his short career Daniel was the reciepient of two unit citations.
He was a proud member of Local 22 and the Philadelphia Fire Department.
