It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Firefighter Andrew W. Jefferies, IAFF 11th District Local 571, Galveston, Texas. Brother Jefferies, 40, passed away on February 7, 2023, after suffering a medical emergency.

Biographical Comments
It is with great sadness to inform you of the passing of our friend and brother, Andrew Jefferies. Andy was a 16 year veteran of the Galveston Fire Department. He was a former Executive Board Vice President and served on numerous other boards and committees within our local.

We have lost a great and irreplaceable member of our department and community. Andy’s unique and honest character will always be remembered by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
