it is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of lieutenant travis c. guedes of iaff local 4467 - salt spring island, british columbia. brother guedes, 35, passed away on wednesday, april 17, 2013 from brain cancer.
the memorial service will be held on sunday, april 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the gulf island senior secondary school, 232 rainbow road, salt spring island, british columbia v8k 2m3. all uniform staff will muster at 122 rainbow road at 12:00. there will be a reception immediately following the service at 351 rainbow road.
due to a large anticipated number of off-island guests, we encourage you to arrange carpooling or ride the ferry as a walk-on passenger. buses will be available to transport guests from the ferry terminal to the service. ferry times and information can be found at: http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/southern/. anyone wishing to stay overnight on salt spring island can find accommodation listings at the following link: http://saltspringchamber.com. please rsvp to iaff4467@saltspringfire.com with number of guests as soon as possible.

Biographical Comments
Travis was an amazing husband, father and friend. He was loving, compassionate, hardworking and dependable. There are so many things that made him special; his sense of humor, his loyalty, his infectious smile and his love for his family and friends. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Travis joined the Salt Spring Fire Department in 2004 as a volunteer. He quickly realized his passion was for serving the community and made the decision to work towards becoming a fulltime fire fighter, achieving that goal in 2006.
