It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Firefighter/Paramedic Malcolm Cortner, IAFF 2nd District Local 4 – Des Moines, Iowa. Brother Cortner, 42, passed away on March 2, 2025 after succumbing to occupational cancer.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1026 N. 8th Ave., Winterset, Iowa 50273. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the same location.
