It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Garrett Ramos, IAFF 8th District Local 2301, Sterling, Illinois. Brother Ramos, 38, was killed while fighting a structural fire on December 4, 2021.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Sterling High School, Field House, 22 E. Miller Road, Sterling, Illinois 61081. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10:00 am at Westwood Sports Complex, Building #3, 1900 Westwood Drive, Sterling, Illinois 61081

Biographical Comments
Lieutenant Garrett Ramos succumbed to injuries, while fighting a residential structure fire in rural Rock Falls (automatic aid response area). The initial call was reported at 11:04 PM on December 3rd, 2021. He was listed as deceased in the early hours of December 4th, 2021.

Lieutenant Ramos started with the Sterling Fire Department 10/31/2012 and had been promoted to Lieutenant 9/9/2020, and had been the acting Captain of his shift since that date. His father Edward is a retired Lieutenant, also serving with the Sterling Fire Department.

Ramos was also the President of Local 2301.
