It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Raymond Vargas Jr., IAFF 4th District Local 1311 -Baltimore County, Maryland . Brother Vargas Jr., 42, passed away on March 27, 2025 after succumbing to occupational cancer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Maryland State Fairground-Cow Palace, 2200 York Rd., Timonium, Maryland 21093. The Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m.

Lt. Vargas was a passionate firefighter who embodied the true spirit of the fire service and the brotherhood. He was an exceptional leader, a skilled mentor, and a great firefighter who inspired those around him with his commitment and compassion. Beyond his service, he was a loving husband, a devoted father, and an even greater friend to all who knew him.
