It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter/EMT Corby McKenzie, IAFF 11th District Local 4683, South County Fire, Texas. Brother McKenzie, 44, passed away on March 3, 2024, after succumbing to occupational cancer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7 from 5-8 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park Dr, Huntsville, TX 77340; phone#: (936) 291-7300. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m. at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 500 E. Oak Hill Dr., Spring, TX 77386; phone# (281) 367-9721.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of one of our own, a true hero in every sense of the word. Corby McKenzie , a beloved firefighter who dedicated his life to serving and protecting our community, has tragically lost his battle with occupational cancer.

Corby was not just a firefighter; he was a beacon of courage, compassion, and selflessness. Throughout his career, he fearlessly rushed into danger, risking his own safety to save others. His dedication to his duty knew no bounds, and his impact on those he served will never be forgotten.

As we mourn the loss of our dear friend and colleague, let us also celebrate his remarkable life and legacy.
