Biographical Comments
Howard was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, moving with his family to Richmond British Columbia when he was 12 years old. He joined the Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade July 20, 1953. In April 1960 he quit his job as tile-setter to become a full-time fire fighter. He loved his career as a fire fighter and was promoted to Captain September 1, 1970. He was a devoted and loving husband and father with a deep love for sports and the outdoors. His passion for hunting and fishing he passed on to his children and now his grandchildren. He was a long-time member of the Richmond Rod & Gun Club, the Senior B Lacrosse team, Vancouver bowling league and the Richmond Curling Club. He also coached minor soccer, lacrosse and cosom hockey.
(Submitted by the Breden family for the 2017 IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial)
