It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Captain Kyle Heard, IAFF 10th District Local 1401 – Sonoma County, California. Brother Heard, 43, passed away on Aug. 16 2024, after suffering a medical emergency.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Luther Burbank Center, 50 Mark West Springs Rd, Santa Rosa California, 95403; phone: (707)-546-3600.

Biographical Comments
It is with heavy hearts that the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District and the Professional Fire Fighters of Sonoma County IAFF Local 1401 share the news of the passing of one of their own.
Captain Kyle Joseph Heard passed away on August 16, 2024, at the age of 43, following a medical emergency. Kyle was a dedicated fire service member with 21 years to the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District, where he rose to the rank of Captain. His commitment to public service and his union brothers and sisters earned him deep respect among his colleagues and the community.
Outside of his professional life, Kyle was a devoted husband to Rachael and a proud father to Logan and Parker. His family was his world, and he devoted himself to ensuring their happiness and well-being. Kyle's life was a testament to service, love, and duty. As a 21-year veteran of the Rancho Adobe Fire District, he served with unwavering perseverance and was always ready to respond. His contributions extended beyond emergency responses, as he played a crucial role in training new firefighters and maintaining the Fire District’s equipment to ensure the safety of his fellow firefighters. Kyle’s bravery and expertise were evident as he and his team tackled some of California’s largest wildfires.

1300 – Apparatus Arrival. Fire Apparatus will begin staging at 1300. Please see map for parking
locations.
1330-1400 – Uniformed personnel to assemble at the Luther Burbank Center
1400 – General arrival
1420 – Seating Begins inside auditorium
1450-1455 – Procession Arrival. Procession arrival will be on a live feed into the auditorium. Please
stay seated when they arrive.
1500-1630 – Commemorating Captain Kyle Heard
1630-1900 – Reception with light refreshments at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, Lytton
Rancheria Grand Lobby.

Uniformed Personnel and Apparatus Information: All Fire Service agencies are invited to the celebration.
Preferred Uniform Class: Class A’s (‘Sea of Blue’) or Station Uniforms for on-duty personnel.
Apparatus Attendance: Apparatus wishing to attend, please RSVP by Friday, September 20th to
