It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Engineer Kaine Popejoy, IAFF 11th District Local 4989 –Somervell County, Texas. Brother Popejoy, 43, passed away on Aug. 12, 2025, after succumbing to occupational cancer.



Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Wiley Funeral Home & Cremation Services – Glen Rose, 504 Holden Street, Glen Rose, Texas 76043. A funeral service will take place on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 2008 FM 56, Glen Rose, Texas 76043.

Biographical Comments
Engnineer Kaine Popejoy passed away August 12, 2025 after a long fight with colon cancer. Engineer Popejoy was a life long resident of Glen Rose, Texas, the community he chose to serve with the Somervell County Fire Department. Engineer Popejoy was well known and beloved by the community as a man who was always there to help someone in need. Engineer Popejoy was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2023, he remained in good spirits throughout his entire fight and continued to work his regular shifts as much as he could, a testament to his dedication. Engineer Popejoy leaves behind his wife Gisel, son Hunter, and daughters Kailee and Zulaley.
