It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Paramedic Kyle Martincic, IAFF 8th District Local 4252, Johnson County, Indiana. Brother Martincic, 34, passed away on August 23, 2021 after suffering a medical emergency during a training exercise.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington, Indiana 47401; phone: (812) 824-5905 and on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, 2700 E. Rogers, Bloomington, Indiana 47401; phone: (812) 334-0206. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church.

Biographical Comments
Kyle Martincic, 34, of Ellettsville, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was born on September 3, 1986 in Decatur, Illinois; the son of Lawrence “Sonny” and Pamela (Williams) Martincic.

Kyle graduated from Pana Christian Academy and obtained his National Registered EMT in 2004. Kyle later became a Paramedic in Illinois in 2011. He was the lead instructor for Illinois in in 2012 went on to achieve his Associates of Applied Science degree in Paramedical Services from Lakeland College in 2019. Kyle was currently enrolled in Columbia Southern University where he was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in EMS Management.

Kyle had a love for fire and medicine that started when Chief Rod Bland of Pana Fire gave him a toy fire hat when he was 9 years old. He joined The Fire Explorers which then led him to pursuing his EMT license while he was still in high school.

After graduating high school, Kyle moved to Elgin, Illinois where he worked for their local EMS company and became a local paramedic. Kyle moved back to Pana to work for Clinton and served on Pana’s Volunteer Fire Department.

While living in Illinois, Kyle was also employed with several additional ambulance services that included: AMR in Effingham, America in Springfield, Dunns in Taylorsville, Moweaqua in Moweaqua. He also had a passion for organ and tissue donations, where he worked with Gift of Hope as a coordinator for tissue and organ donations.

Kyle moved to Indiana in 2018, where he married and was employed with White River Township Fire Station 51 as a Civilian Paramedic; I.U. Health Bloomington EMS; Bargersville Fire Department; and was an instructor of high school EMT students at C9.

Kyle is survived by his wife, Angela Martincic; children, Lydia and Brayton Adair; father, Lawrence “Sonny” Martincic; siblings, Rev. Shawn (Rebecca) Martincic, Kelly (Crystal) Martincic and Tonya Martincic; niece, Lauren Martincic; nephews, Jared Martincic and Gavin Abernathy; mother and father-in-law, Dave and Jenny Gray; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Brandon and Adrian Abernathy; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Martincic; maternal grandparents, Wanda and Charles (Sticks) Williams and paternal grandparents, Lawrence Sr. and Hellie Martincic.

We all carry a heavy heart over the loss of Paramedic Kyle Martincic. For many of you, I can’t imagine the pain you are experiencing by losing someone so close. The hurt we feel confirms the love we have for Kyle as a brother, friend, and fellow public servant. In the coming days, we will honor Kyle Martincic’s life in many ways. We should also recognize that we will all experience a range of emotions from grief through anger. I will assure you, WE WILL MAKE THIS JOURNEY TOGETHER. White River Twp. FD is a special place because we place such a high value on human life. My hope is that we can support each other with the same compassion we show our community on runs.
