It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter/Paramedic, John Morgan IAFF 8th District Local 5575 Harlem-Roscoe, Illinois. Brother Morgan, 53, passed away on May 31, 2026, after suffering a medical emergency.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. at
Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. A funeral service will take place on Monday, June 8 at 10 A.M. at Harlem High School, 1 Huskie Circle, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115.

Biographical Comments
John Morgan served 25 years with the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District in Roscoe, Illinois, as a firefighter and paramedic dedicated to his department and community.
Over his career, John was recognized with the EMS Lifetime Achievement award and was credited with multiple successful baby deliveries and multiple CPR saves in the field.
He held a wide range of certifications reflecting his commitment to his craft and to mentoring the next generation of first responders: Basic Operations Firefighter, Paramedic, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Aerial Operations, Fire Apparatus Engineer, CPR-BLS Instructor, Paramedic Preceptor and Coordinator, Fire Service Vehicle Operator, Hazardous Materials Operations, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and NIMS.
As a Paramedic Preceptor, Coordinator, and CPR-BLS Instructor, John gave back by training and guiding fellow firefighters and medics, leaving a lasting mark on his department well beyond his own runs. Brother John Morgan passed away on May 31, 2026, after suffering a medical emergency while on duty. He served 25 years with the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District in Roscoe, Illinois.
